Each piece begins as a single length of cloth, chosen in the mill and held back for a season before it is cut. The pattern is drafted by hand, then walked on a living body until the line settles.

The studio sits above a former weaving hall. Six people work there: two pattern cutters, three machinists and a finisher who has kept the same shears for nineteen years. Nothing leaves until she has seen it.
